... and Welcome! This is my record for my independent study course. For my independent study I am to be a mentor for SLIS 202 students. The whole thing is a little bit daunting, since there are 6 classes of SLIS 202 students and only 1 mentor. I am still not sure how this is all going to work. I was hoping to be pretty involved in the class, but with so many classes I do not really think that is an option anymore. But I will do what I can, and perhaps in the future there will be more mentors so that they may better interact with the students.
So far, the only idea we have had for me to do is to create some instructional videos for the students via Jing, which is a free software available online. I could make videos showing students how to use the library catalog, how to get to the article databases and search for articles, and how to find a specific article from its citation. Hopefully more ideas will come to me later.
